Prioritize Prayer

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

This week I was reminded that prayer is primarily about connection through communication with Yahweh (God) through Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

In His presence there is no need for pretense, no place for platitudes, we simply open our heart, invite His Presence and experience His peace.

“Pray without ceasing” means having a constant awareness of the Presence of Yahweh being with us and in us.  This awareness sets us up for undisrupted peace and anchors our lives – our thoughts, words and actions – in the state that is captured in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, where disturbance does not cause us distress and we do not despair in the face of attacks.  Our prayer connection does not need to be loud and it does not need to keep us from our daily activity, but rather it carries us through them.

Our Father listens to us as we rise from our beds with praise and thanksgiving, move through our days unveiling the desires of our hearts for His eyes only, making requests on behalf of our families and nations – our prayers swaddled in words of adoration and recognition of His love and authority.  At the same time, we are alert to His blessings, His instructions for every step to be taken and decisions made, and the loving reminders that He never leaves us and will never forsake His own.

Let prayer be a priority.  Pray first, pray always and pray in faith, believing that you are heard and expecting His response.

Today I access the Presence of the Father through prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being near to us.  Thank You for loving us so much that You have made a way for us to boldly approach You and to have relationship with You through Your son.  I am so grateful that You have made a way for us to live in Your presence day and night.  Please abide with me through Your Holy Spirit and may Your presence take precedence over everything else in this life.  Order my steps today, renew my mind and may the prayers of my heart be in alignment with Your will for my life.
