I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
1 Timothy 2:1 (NIV)
The world is in turmoil, the people of the world are in distress and fearful of the many dangers that are present – disease, unease, uncertainty, war, threats, insecurity and the fight for significance.
But we, the people of Yahweh, have been tasked to step away from the fray and to pray. Not to be caught up in the hysteria of fear, but to pray for the people of the world. And yes, ”people” include leaders, governments, powerful persons that have the potential to make our lives as believers hell on earth. But the Apostle Paul tells Timothy that through prayer, we can live “peaceful and quiet lives in all holiness” (v. 3).
Whatever 2022 brings, remember that Yahweh Almighty is the greatest power under whose authority every principality is secondary and subject. We have been given the mandate to pray to this end, that ALL – men and women, the elderly, the young, world and local leaders, power-mongers and those easily persuaded to corruption, warlords and the victims of war, the rich and the ragged, the diseased and anxious, the fearful and the fearless – ALL, “be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). Pray for all people today.
Read: 1 Timothy 2:1-6
Write: Why is this prayer more urgent than ever today? Do you see ways in which our lives could be adversely affected by the powers of this world? Write your response to these threats, based upon the Word of Yahweh.
Pray: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication
Use the Apostle Paul’s guide to Timothy today as you pray:
Petitions, Prayer, Intercession and Thanksgiving;
