Wait for His instructions
Read: 2 Kings 2:1-11 and Jeremiah 29:11-13
We have become so accustomed to using the GPS for travel that we use it even for familiar routes. Perhaps like me, you check your familiar routes for delays and quicker options.
As you read today’s scripture, you will discover that for the Prophet Elijah, his final journey like others before it, was based on trust. In this case, he was aware that he was to be taken away from the earth and he knew when, but he did not know where it would happen. Elijah’s relationship with Yahweh was so trustworthy that he was willing to go from one town to the other and wait for instructions on what would come next.
As you know, his departure was as spectacular as the life he led. His faith proved valuable to the very end. Are you ready for your instructions about where to go next? Perhaps you know some elements and not others, like “who” but not “why”; or “where” but not “how”. Will you still obey and trust Yahweh for an expected end?
